If you’re like me, you were raised in a very action-focused way.
I was judged by what I could achieve, how much I could do, and what I produced.
Truth: This is because the culture and society we’re living in has an overbalance of masculine energy—and an under balance of femininity.
The good news? We need both masculine and feminine energy to live a healthy, creative life.
And now, more than ever, feminine energy is on the rise.
But you might be wondering: What do feminine energy traits and feminine qualities look like?
What are some examples of feminine energy?
I’ve got you covered. You probably already embody more feminine qualities than you think. And balancing feminine energy with masculine traits is necessary for every person, regardless of gender.
So first, let’s take a look at what feminine energy – also known as divine feminine energy – looks like and how you can balance feminine and masculine energy, and the best examples of feminine energy around.
What Is Feminine Energy?
Feminine energy is the creative, nurturing, and intuitive force that flows through all living beings and connects us to the dynamic rhythms of the universe. Feminine energy refers to the mothering, female power and empathy rooted in beauty and intuition. Think compassion, creativity, emotions, emotional intelligence, nature, and emotions.
Rooted in balance rather than gender, this energy exists within everyone—regardless of gender identity—as a complement to masculine energy, which can often be seen as more assertive and dominant.
The balance of feminine and masculine energy is essential for everyone. We each must learn to embrace our feminine side, along with our masculine side.
From a yogic perspective, feminine energy is often associated with Shakti, the primordial cosmic energy that fuels all creation.
Shakti represents the active, vibrant force of life, embodying qualities like flow, receptivity, and connection. Imagine being surrounded by the warmth and care of many women with the most nurturing presence you’ve ever known—this is the essence of divine feminine energy meeting you exactly where you are.

Feminine Energy Qualities
Masculine and feminine energy each have their own unique traits. I want to review some of the top feminine characteristics with you, so you know how to discern between the masculine and feminine energy, while tapping into your feminine side. Let’s review some of the feminine energy traits.
Intuition and Nurturing
First, there’s the feminine deep intuitive knowing— something most women feel daily. It’s the kind of female inner voice or gut feeling that seems to guide you without needing logical proof. Many men also experience this dominant energy too, especially when tapping into their divine masculine to balance with their divine feminine energy.
This spiritual concept is an innate understanding that comes from within, one that often can’t be put into words, lighting the way when you lean into trusting yourself.
When your intuition begins to awaken, you’re tapping into the feminine energy flowing through you and feeling the force of your feminine energy.
Next, there’s the nurturing quality—the soft, healing warmth that feels like being wrapped in a comforting embrace. This often comes out in romantic relationships, as well as in someone’s moment of need and in empathy for any other human.
Feminine energy is about fostering growth, whether it’s in your relationships, creativity, or personal transformation. This is the sacred feminine’s gift: the ability to hold space, to let things heal and flourish in their own time, and to encourage self-care as an act of love.
Getting creative with a new idea, concept, art, and words
Getting creative is another cornerstone of feminine energy. It’s not just about creating art but also about being able to spend time bringing your idea to life, finding innovative ways to navigate the world, seeing new possibilities, and approaching challenges with openness and imagination. This creative flow is the feminine’s spark and force at work and in the world.
Being able to feel emotions and receive
And finally, there’s receptivity—the ability to remain open to life’s gifts, whether it’s love, opportunities, or the simple beauty around you. This is yin energy – the ability to rest and receive.
Feminine energy invites you to receive and embrace what comes your way with grace and awareness.
These qualities—intuition, nurturing, creativity, and receptivity—are present in everyone, no matter their gender, and every male and female and nonbinary identity can tap into these feminine traits. If you’ve ever doubted your ability to embody them, know that they’re already within you, waiting to be unlocked.

Masculine Versus Feminine Energy
As I mentioned before, as the Western world evolved, masculine energy began to overshadow feminine energy, shaping a culture rooted in action, structure, and logic. This male dominated world lost an understanding of compassion, respecting nature, and gender equality.
However, in recent history, women involved in mysticism and esoteric traditions have sparked a renewed interest in the divine feminine, inspiring movements that sought to reclaim and celebrate feminine spirituality.
Feminist spirituality emerged during this time, challenging the dominance of masculine energy and striving to restore relationships between the male and female energy, by honoring the nurturing, intuitive, and creating power of the sacred feminine, the body, and the natural course of both the masculine and women in relationships and life.
However, masculine energy and feminine energy are as old as the dawn of time. Just as yin and yang create harmony through their polarity, masculine energy and feminine energy balance each other to form a whole. Both energies exist within every person, regardless of gender, and finding harmony between them is key to achieving your highest potential.
When they come together, they create one energy—with a balance of feminine energy and masculine energy. The best example of this is relationships, where these energies dance together.
Just like how feminine energy is often associated with Shakti and yin qualities, masculine energy is linked to Shiva and yang qualities, representing structure, action, force, and confidence.
In today’s culture, the masculine energy of action and ambition often dominates, leaving the softer, more receptive feminine energy underdeveloped.
By reconnecting and learning to tap into your feminine energy—whether through intuition, self-care, or creative expression—you can restore balance within yourself and contribute to the larger collective healing taking place in the world.
Feminine energy has many different expressions, from the gentle and flowing soft feminine energy to the bold and transformative dark feminine.
Each aspect, including the masculine, holds its own unique power, offering opportunities for deeper self-discovery and growth. You can learn more about the aspects of masculine and feminine in this blog post.
Examples Of Feminine Energy
Feminine energy is woven into the fabric of everyday life, along with the masculine, and it’s reflected in specific actions, people, and moments that you already encounter in your own day-to-day.
It’s not just an abstract concept but a powerful force that you can observe in the world around you, just like you would with masculine energy.
From the mother who nurtures her children to the artist creating something from the heart, this energy is alive and active.
Here are some concrete, real-world examples in action that you can easily recognize:
A Mother’s Care
One of the most recognizable examples is in the care and nurturing of children.
Take a moment to imagine a mother preparing a warm meal for her kids after a long day, offering comfort when they are sick, or simply listening to their problems with love and empathy.
This mothering energy, which goes beyond biological mothers, can be seen in anyone who takes time to care for others—whether it’s a teacher offering support to a student or a friend helping another through tough times.
This is the feminine energy in action—compassion, care, and unconditional love that helps others grow and heal. Masculine energy supports this by offering structure and action to support a person too.
A Friend Offering Emotional Support
Feminine energy shows up in the small, but significant acts of emotional care, which most women practice throughout the course of any given day.
Imagine a friend who is there for you after a heartbreak, offering a warm hug, a cup of tea, and a listening ear.
When a friend holds space for you to express your feelings without judgment, they are embodying feminine energy.
It’s the ability to be present, empathize, and show love, even in difficult moments. This emotional support is the heart of feminine energy, cultivating healing and understanding in relationships.
The Artist Creating From the Heart
Creativity is one of the clearest expressions of feminine energy. Picture an artist sitting at an easel, painting a scene inspired by an emotion or memory, without concern for perfection. Or a musician who plays a song that reflects their innermost feelings, crafting melodies that speak directly to the heart. This is feminine energy—the act of creating something meaningful that comes from within. It’s not about following rules or producing something “perfect,” but about expressing your essence and letting the process flow naturally, without force or resistance.
The Healing Touch of a Nurse
The body knows what it needs and some of us are able to tap into our feminine energy, even when we’re feeling weak. Feminine energy is deeply tied to healing. Think about a nurse gently tending to a patient—holding their hand, adjusting their blankets, speaking soothingly to help them feel more comfortable.
This act of care and nurturing is a beautiful example of feminine energy. It’s also seen in moments of emotional healing, like a therapist offering words of comfort or a loved one making you feel seen and heard after a hard day.
These acts of healing energy remind us that feminine energy isn’t just physical; it’s also emotional and spiritual, helping to restore balance and bring peace.
Nature’s Cycles
The moon, the ocean, the land—there’s a reason they’re often referred to as gifts from Mother Nature. Feminine energy is closely tied to the cycles and rhythms of nature, like the way the seasons change.
Spring brings new life, summer nurtures growth, autumn allows for reflection, and winter offers rest. Each season represents different aspects of feminine energy: the birth of new things, the flourishing of ideas, and the introspection that helps you rest and prepare for new growth.
The rhythms of nature are a constant reminder of the feminine energy that flows in cycles—nurturing, growing, and resting in perfect harmony. You can observe this energy every time you watch a garden bloom or see the moon change phases in the sky.
The Intuitive Decision-Maker
Even the masculine relies on the intuitive ability to look for a sign when it comes to making a big choice. Feminine energy is embodied when someone follows their intuition in making decisions.
Take, for instance, a woman who decides to leave a job that doesn’t fulfill her, despite the logic saying it’s the “safe” option. Or a person who picks up the phone and reaches out to a friend they haven’t spoken to in years, just because they had a feeling they should.
This intuitive knowing, that inner voice that guides decisions without clear logic, is a powerful example of feminine energy. It’s the trust in what can’t always be explained but is deeply felt.
The Self-Care Rituals
Self-care is another vital way feminine energy shows up, in the simple yet profound acts of taking care of yourself. This is not only for when we feel weak, but to maintain our strength too.
Picture taking a warm bath with essential oils, lighting candles, and allowing yourself to relax after a stressful week.
Or setting aside the time to meditate, stretch, and quiet your mind at the end of the day.
These practices, which prioritize your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being, are essential to embodying feminine energy. It’s the willingness to nourish yourself so that you can better show up for yourself and others.
The Empathic Teacher
In the classroom, a teacher who listens to their students, acknowledges their unique struggles, and offers encouragement demonstrates feminine energy.
For instance, a teacher might notice when a student is struggling with their emotions, step aside from the lesson plan, and offer words of support or a space for that student to express their feelings.
This nurturing aspect of teaching, where emotional intelligence is used to guide students toward personal growth, is a powerful example of feminine energy in action. I
t’s not about being strict or assertive, but about meeting people where they are and helping them thrive.
Community Care
Feminine energy thrives in community-building activities, where people come together to support one another. Think about a group of women organizing a potluck dinner to raise money for a charity, or a neighborhood supporting each other through difficult times, like illness or the loss of a loved one.
These acts of solidarity, compassion, and nurturing the collective well-being demonstrate feminine energy in action. It’s the force that brings people together, creates bonds, and nurtures relationships for the greater good.
The Love Between Partners
Feminine energy also manifests in romantic relationships, where love and care are freely given. A partner who listens attentively to their significant other’s needs, offers emotional support, and fosters a sense of safety and intimacy is embodying feminine energy.
This might be seen in a simple gesture like holding hands, offering kind words after a stressful day, or creating a home environment that feels nurturing and loving.
The feminine energy in relationships is what creates emotional connection and intimacy, allowing both partners to feel valued and cared for.
The Power of a Mentor
Feminine energy can also be seen in mentorships, where wisdom and compassion are shared between individuals. Picture a mentor offering guidance to a younger person, providing not just career advice, but also emotional support and encouragement to help them grow personally and professionally.
This nurturing, guiding, and empowering energy is a hallmark of the sacred feminine. It’s the ability to see the potential in others and help them step into their power, just as a mentor does with their mentee.
Feminine energy is all around us, at all times, influencing and shaping our lives, our relationships, our expression, and even the way we care for others.
Whether it’s through the way we nurture, create, or connect, the sacred feminine is a vital force that contributes to balance, healing, and growth in the world.
Closing Thoughts
Feminine energy is a powerful, nurturing force that we can observe in many aspects of our daily lives, from the way we care for others to the way we express our creativity and intuition.
It is the foundation of love, support, and emotional connection, guiding us toward personal growth and collective healing.
By embracing and recognizing feminine energy in its many forms, we can tap into its transformative power and bring more balance and harmony into our own lives and the world around us.
