Ajai Alai Mantra is no exception. This powerful mantra is a potent fixer-upper whenever you feel depressed or angry.

What Is Ajai Alai

Ajai Alai, also known as Ek Aacharee Chand shabad, is said to ignite and support inner strength, grace, self-worth, and will power. It is often prescribed during times of depression and anger to lift people out of these states into ones more bright, beautiful and supportive. 

It strengthens your courage and resolve to enable you to follow through on your goals and desires.

History of Ajai Alai

Ajai Alai was written by Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Sikh Guru. It is part of the morning prayer of the Sikhs called the Jaap Sahib. The powerful words chanted in this mantra are believed to be an ode to the many facets of the Divine. A list of divine qualities to aspire to. In this way, it lifts the soul.

Ajai Alai Meaning

Typically the language used in Sikh scriptures has many variations in pronunciation, transliteration and translation given that it can be transliterated into the Roman alphabet in many different ways. The Ajai Alai mantra is an exception to this, most practitioners agree to the translated meaning of this mantra.

The Ajai Alai mantra is going to take you a little bit of time to get familiar with. I’m not going to sugar coat this one – it is long. But you can do it! And I promise it is worth the effort.

Ajai Alai is essentially an ode to the Divine, a collection of super powers held within it and within all of us. When you chant this mantra, you reflect on these attributes and connect with this source of power within the Divine.

    Benefits Of Ajai Alai Mantra

    Ajai Alai is a mantra for the radiant body. Not exterior radiance like luminous skin or shiny hair, but rather it adds radiance via internal energetic radiance, like the courage you bring to your life. How you show up as yourself. The more you that you are, the more magnetic you become to the people and experiences that are meant to be in your life. 

    Essentially, it’s protective, supportive and enriching of your true essence and higher expression of being. When you feel depressed, helpless, down, or are experiencing anger, Ajai Alai helps you to dissolve anger and regain your strength and inner power. It shifts your vibration because it realigns you with the qualities of the Divine and in this way it helps you to rebuild your courage, self esteem, and grace.

    When To Practice Ajai Alai Mantra

    Ajai Alai can be practiced at any time because it is an excellent mantra practice for reaffirming your one-ness with the Divine. 

    It can be especially potent to practice when you feel low, depressed, fearful, grief, anger or emotional pain. The positive affirmations chanted during the practice of Ajai Alai mantra have an uplifting impact on your subtle energy.

    How To Practice Ajai Alai Mantra

    The practice of Ajai Alai is straightforward. 

    You may want to do a few light stretches before you settle into your Easy Pose to get any lingering frustrations out of your body. I have a short 8 minute pre-meditation practice available for you on YouTube.

    When you’re ready, find a quiet place to sit in Easy Pose (Sukhasana) with a straight spine.

    Bring your hands to rest on your thighs, palms face up in Gyan Mudra.

    Begin to recite the Ajai Alai mantra aloud on your own or along with a recording.

    How Long To Practice Ajai Alai

    There is no defined amount of time prescribed for chanting Ajai Alai. Some say that if you recite it one full time through with full awareness its full potency is unlocked. However, this level of awareness can take a lot of practice to achieve. 

    It is up to you to explore how the mantra feels in your unique body and subtle energy system. Play around with varied amounts of time per sitting. Repetition of the mantra for 11 minutes is a good place to begin. You can extend it to 32 minutes, or even up to 61 minutes.

    What Time Of Day To Practice Ajai Alai

    Any time of day is adequate for practicing Ajai Alai. 

    Similar to common considerations when you want to start a 40 Day Kriya practice, the pre-dawn hours (the Ambrosial hours or Amrit Vela) are thought to be the most potent for your sadhana.

    You have full autonomy over when you choose to practice. The most important thing is that you pick a time when you can consistently show up.

    Ajai Alai Meditation

    Ajai Alai is incorporated in various meditation practices, such as:

    Prosperity Meditation for Self-Containment and Expansion

    Posture: Sit in Easy Pose.

    Mudra: Bring your hands into Sarab Gyan Mudra. Interlace your fingers and extend the index fingers up. Press your palms and index fingers together tightly and cross your thumbs. Hold this mudra at your Heart Center. Relax your elbows at the sides of your body.

    Drishti: Focus at the tip of your nose, eyes 1/10th open.

    Mantra: Ajai Alai.

    Time: Your choice! Again, 11 minutes is common but you can work up to 31 minutes.

    To Finish: Take a deep breath in and hold it. Stretch your arms up above your head, maintain the mudra. Stretch and exhale. Repeat this two times, then relax.

    Meditation for the Radiant Body

    Posture: Sit in Easy Pose.

    Mudra: Extend both of your index fingers and bring their pads to touch together. Hold them together in front of your Heart Center. Your hands will twist a little in this mudra. Your right palm will face away from your body and your left palm will face towards your chest. With your index fingers together, gently pull the rest of your fingers down to your palm to make a soft fist and rest your thumbs on top of them. Your thumbs will mainly be holding down your middle fingers. Relax your elbows at your sides.

    Drishti: Focus at the tip of your nose.

    Mantra: Ajai Alai.

    Time: Your choice! Again, 11 minutes is common but you can work up to 24 minutes.

    To Finish: Inhale a deep breath in, hold, exhale. Repeat two times.
